The new UPAS podcast ‘Konvergenzzone’ on the subject of meteorology provides answers to these and many other questions, divided into four sections.

Forschungsfragen: Here, meteorologist Lukas Pfitzenmaier and meteorologist and aspiring astronaut Insa Thiele-Eich talk to researchers from the ten university institutes for meteorology about what they are currently researching, how their research topics influence society, and what life as a researcher is like at the individual locations.

Studies fragen: However, the path to becoming a researcher is long, and first you have to complete your studies. How does a degree programme actually work? What obstacles stand in your way? How do you become a professor? And what do you actually do after graduating? Students Meike Schraa and Georg Wilhelm explore these questions and interview a wide variety of people.

Gewusst?!: If you want to brush up on your knowledge of myths, facts or general basics from the world of weather and climate, you’ve come to the right place! Meteorologists Daniela Schoster and Imke Schirmacher explain terms and concepts from the world of meteorology.

Jobgewitter: With a degree in meteorology, you can work in weather forecasting – just one of many career prospects. In each episode of Jobgewitter, meteorologist Tobias Wurzel introduces you to a different job and talks to meteorology graduates about their start in professional life.
